This morning Mike, Marek and Scott got together for breakfast to discuss what we need to bring, and most importantly, our food for the trip.

The crew
(Mike, John, Scott, and Marek)
Marek was nearly beside himself with excitement over the fact that he purchased some AUTHENTIC Polish sausage – with LOTS of garlic. We’re thinking that perhaps Marek and his Polish sausage may end up in the dinghy – pulled along behind the boat!
The delinquent cockpit mic for the VHF radio arrived yesterday – overnighted by Nicole from Icom who made a spectacular recovery after the rebate processing company fumbled badly – Thank You Nicole!
I finished commissioning the outboard motor for the dinghy, and it successfully passed the garbage can test in the driveway. Tomorrow we will give it a real test, putting it in the water to install our mooring ball so that on our arrival in Milwaukee’s McKinley Mooring Basin we have a place to put the boat! (McKinley Anchorage & Moorage Association, Inc.)

Yesterday, we confirmed with our friends at the Coast Guard that the navigation buoys marking the North Channel entrance from Lake St Clair to the St Clair River have been placed. This is important because the depths in Lake St Clair are very shallow, and the channel entrance is narrow and winding, and starts out in the lake a ways. Navigating it without the channel markers, unfamiliar as we are with the area would be difficult.
It’s hard to believe that after 4 months of anticipation and preparation, the day is almost here when we launch the boat and set sail!

Captain Scott, you were as excited about the sausage as I was! Especially when I mentioned 3 kinds of mustard! The sausage came from Chicago, so it is is authentic, for real! I agree with Scott, it is hard to believe the time is coming so quickly … 5 more days.
